Willow goes home
Willow came to us with a broken spirit and body. She was picked up as a stray in Texas with her puppies and I’m sure that was a very scary experience. Her pups were adopted and Willow, thin and suffering from severe mastitis as well as hair loss, was left behind. VEBR pulled her from the high kill shelter, sent her to Callahan Road Animal Hospital and had her treated. She then went to a foster who lovingly cared for her for weeks until she was well enough to travel. Willow just needed time, quiet and a great diet. She received plenty of love and encouragement but needed more. Willow needed her very own family to finish the journey.
Yesterday Patty and Pete came to meet her. Willow came out of the kennel wiggling and happy. This was very unusual due to her shyness, We knew at that point that Willow had made her decision. It took a bit longer for Patty and Pete to spend time with her and concur. Willow left for her new and forever home. There is always a sadness in watching each dog go. We have brought them back from near death, nourished their bodies and rebuilt their confidence and spirit. How can we let go? We can because we know that folks like Patty and Pete can offer what we can’t, a full time home, a full time family and the time and attention that each dog deserves. Best of luck to Willow in her new home.
