Rostam has been adopted.
The name Rostam is a boy’s name meaning “tall, strongly-built, brave”.
Used in Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, this strong-sounding name belonged to a hero in Persian legend. Its derivation is unclear, but the consensus seems to be that it relates to the hero’s great size and strength, possibly from Avestan raodha “to grow” and takhma “strong, brave, valiant”.
Rostam was purchased as a Livestock Guardian Dog on a ranch in Texas. However, he took to dispatching chickens and was sent on his way. He was purchased from a breeder, kept outside 24/7, and had little socialization.
He loves people and was good with other dogs. He was so dirty and badly matted that we had him bathed and groomed the day before transport. He is a young, friendly, big guy (125 pounds) who does not want to live outside anymore. He is heartworm negative, fully vaccinated, dewormed, micro-chipped, and ready for his forever home.
