Charlie goes home

It is difficult to fathom a small, healthy, innocent puppy being killed just for space. The truth is that it happens every day thousands of times over all over the US. Charlie came up on the euthanasia list and we had to help him. He has been a handful in the way puppies are a handful. Charlie was healthy and social with everyone. He has the sweetest little overbite smile and charming personality. When Andrew applied to adopt him, I was skeptical. I asked a lot of pointed questions. Andrew answered them all without a moment of frustration at the process. He actually appreciated that I care so much for the process and finding the right fit, that he was happy to help. Andrew and Dad Rick came to meet the boy yesterday. They stayed overnight in the area so that they could spend more time with Charlie and make sure that he was the one. Charlie will go home with Dad and Grandpa today and we are excited for him. Instead of dying in a shelter in Texas, Charlie will have a big family to love and care for him. He will get to visit grandparents on the Cape and see the ocean for the first time. How huge is that? We are thrilled to send this boy off into very capable hands, again picking up where we must leave off. Best to all.
