Buddy
Making the decision to part with a beloved pet is most often a traumatic event, not unlike a death. Sometimes, perhaps an animal is tossed aside with barely a look back or a thought as to it’s well-being going forward. This is a daily occurrence at shelters around the country and on many back roads throughout the US. We throw away everything, why not the dog? The is NOT one of those happenstance occurrences. Given that I will say to anyone that posts a negative or judgmental comment that you will be banned from the page.
Buddy is a beautiful one year old English Bulldog in perfect health. He began displaying some unprovoked aggression toward a resident dog in his first home and was returned to the rescue. The family who adopted him, adore him. This is a heartbreaking event, but a necessary one. Buddy went for a period of time getting on well with the other dogs in the family, however displaying tendency to being jealousy when another is getting attention that he perceives as his and his alone. This has partnered with what seems to be a regular tendency to startle when unexplained noises happen: snow sliding off the roof, a chair falling over, someone dropping something.
Where my dog might notice, bark, and go to investigate, it is reported that Buddy will charge around the home intent on finding the intruder and is not easily redirected. There was an incident where this happened and as he flew off the couch, bit a child that he lives with. We are investigating anti-anxiety medications to see if this brings his anxiety level down to a manageable place.
Buddy needs a quiet and predictable home with NO other pets and no children ….that means NONE. He would most likely do best with a single person or couple who have Bulldog experience. This is not a dog who will go to dog parks and stroll down the shopping mall on weekends. He loves people but his triggers are not clear and as such this would be a liability.
We will carefully screen applicants as we always do. There will be an adoption fee as there always is. We are not in a rush. Finding this sweet boy a forever home is our only goal.
